Bump Update - Week 6

Hey everyone,

I'm here with a little update on symptoms and how i'm feeling as well as a little update on baby and how our little Nugget is growing,

SYMPTOMS

For me this was the week where the dreaded morning sickness started, and I would take the term "morning" sickness with a pinch of salt, this is not something that happens in the morning and you can then spend the rest of the day feeling hunky dory. No. This is a nausea that comes in waves all through the day and can result in multiple episodes of vomiting. The other symptoms that I have had this week was food aversions, nothing in particular sounded good to eat and Tuna was a major no no, one of the girls had Tuna in work and I had to make a mad dash to the toilet.

In terms of emotional symptoms I was grumpy and didn't want anyone near me, I didn't want cuddles and just wanted to be alone, it became overwhelming at work some days and I had to just take a few minutes to myself.

This week baby is the size of a Pea 

DEVELOPMENT

This week baby's arm and leg buds are continuing to form as well as a lot of their other vital organs.

RANDOM FACT

That poppy seed that your baby was the size of just 3 weeks ago is now the size of your little baby's heart alone.

How did we find out?

Hey everyone,

Today's post is an important one, I may as well start at the beginning of the story so this is where it begins,

On the 26th of September we were just chilling out in the house when David turned to me and told me that he thought that I might be pregnant, I hadn't had any symptoms and didn't think it was possible as I had taken a test only 2 days earlier and had gotten a big fat negative before we went away on a nice little weekend.

Being that it was the middle of the day I also knew that there was no way that even if I was pregnant the HCG levels would be nowhere near high enough at that time of the day but to humour David I gave in and took a test,

After about 30 seconds I looked at the test and there was something that I had never had before, I squinted and squinted and shouted on David to tell him that I thought that I could see something, after squinting for a few minutes we could both tell that there was definitely two pink lines

As you can see below it was really hard to see if there was a line and so I went back to tidying up while I left the test for the full 5 minutes

After another few minutes David went back into the bathroom and came out with a huge smile on his face. He came back through with the test and handed it to me, this time I could definitely see the line and just couldn't believe it, I think I was in shock for most of the day, probably even longer.

The next morning I still couldn't believe it and so took another test just to make sure, and then again the next day, all were blinding positives!

After this I phoned the doctor to make an appointment and surprise surprise she was full until the 14th of October and I really wanted some advice as I am on Propanalol for Hemiplegic Migraines, the neurologist had advised that it was fine to stay on the drug while pregnant but when I spoke to another doctor she told me to come off them straight away. I had this weird niggle in my head telling me not to come off them like my regular doctor had told me and so I cut down the dose but didn't stop. 

Eventually we managed to speak to the doctor not long ago and she agreed that staying on them was better for both my health and the baby's health but advised that I cut the dose exactly like I had, I was just so glad that I listened to my gut and made up my own mind about what was best for the both of us.

Old Wives Tales - Gender Prediction

For this post I am going to be talking about the Old Wives Tales for predicting gender of baby. All of these are just for fun and on the 30th of December we will know for definite what baby is from our scan so we can see if any of these are true!! 

Chinese Gender Chart - this one is a chart online which checks by your age at conception time as well as the month of conception and going by these the baby is a BOY

Mayan Gender Chart - similarly to the Chinese gender chart this one goes by age at conception and year of conception, 2 even or odd numbers gives a girl result and one even and one odd gives a boy result, my age at time of conception was 23 and the year was 2016 giving a BOY result

Baby's Heart Rate - this one goes by the heart rate of the baby a rate of less than 140 means boy and more that 140 means girl, our baby has a heart rate of 148 and so this is a result for GIRL

Ring On A String - this one involves tying your wedding ring to a string and hanging it over the baby, since I don't have a wedding ring we used the engagement one instead. If the ring swings back and forward it's a result for a boy and if it goes in a circle then it's a girl. Ours stopped moving altogether and then all of a sudden started swinging back and forward meaning BOY

Colder Feet - this one is based on how cold your feet are. if they are colder than before then you are said to be having a boy and if they stay the same then you are having a girl. My feet have been pretty much the same so i'm going with GIRL on this one.

Carrying High or Low - since I am only 16 weeks it's hard to tell but for this but I have asked David and he says low so this result means BOY

Dry Hands - this one is all about the dryness of your hands, as of recently I have noticed that my hands are dryer but i'm not sure if that's just because it's winter or not. going by this it claims that I am having a BOY

Sweet vs Salty Cravings - in the very beginning of pregnancy I was craving sweets because they were the only thing that took the sickness away, now I am having cravings for KFC, specifically Zinger Burgers and Hot Wings so now it would suggest that I am having a BOY

Moodiness - this one I asked David about and he said that I have definitely been more moody during pregnancy which suggests that baby is a GIRL

Better Skin - I wouldn't really say that my skin has been better but it's not been any worse, I get one or two spots every now and then but nothing much at all, so this one means that baby is maybe a BOY

What Side I Sleep On - I am definitely more comfy on my left side than my right, sometimes I even get pains when sleeping on the right side and so this suggests another point for BOY

Sickness - I think we all know the answer for this one! Definitely sick, a lot, so this one is a point for GIRL

Headaches - recently I have had a few headaches more than at the beginning which suggests BOY

Mum's Intuition - GIRL

Dad's Intuition - BOY

So this means that there are 10 points for Boy and 5 points for Girl so overwhelmingly Boy results, hopefully we can find out on Friday to see what baby really is and see if any of these are true!! :)

I'm Pregnant!!!

Hey Everyone,

(Now that all of our family and friends know I can finally start posting on this blog that I created a few months ago, it feels strange to make this public now when it's been my own little haven for so long but here you go.) updated 24/12

So now you all know the reason behind me starting a new blog and from the title i'm sure that you've worked out that our little family of 2 is soon to become 3 which is the most exciting thing I have ever experienced,

I'm going to be making blog posts about updates on me and how I am feeling as well as some other mummy related things as we go along, i'm not too sure what yet but we will see!
